Introduction
Netbooks, sometimes viewed as only a consumer device, are being actively deployed in many enterprises, albeit usually only among a small subset of employees who are highly mobile. Organizations value them for their portability and size and see them as being most relevant for usage among mobile employees. The lower price point of Netbooks vis-à-vis laptops is also alluring to IT departments, although a perceived lack of processing power is keeping many organizations from buying them.
Processing power looms large in IT decision-makers' consideration of Netbooks because many productivity applications are not yet being used through web services, as we saw in our previous Pulse series on cloud computing.
